One of the many great things about Daybreak is their effort to maintain the natural beauty of the area. The beautiful landscapes of Utah have inspired many authors to write. One Daybreak resident in particular has written her way to the New York Times’ Best-seller list for 2013!

Shannon Hale has written 6 young adult novels, 3 books for adults, and even a graphic novel which have won various awards and critical acclaim. Recently Shannon finished her latest book “Dangerous” and desired to take a break from writing full-time. This mother of 4 found herself without a book under contract for the first time in over a decade. So when she was approached by a publisher with a project she wasn’t anxious for another contract. However, when she was told she had to sign a non-disclosure agreement before even discussing the project she became to curious to resist the offer.

After agreeing to the project she had to refer to is as “project lightning” to maintain the secrecy of the project. The first book was released under it’s real name “Ever After High” and has been on the top 15 best-sellers list for 2 months.

It is great so see someone in our community doing so well. Check out her website for more information about her and her books.
