Second in line to the anticipation of being able to buy fresh beautiful tulips in the grocery store in January, is the release of the Pantone (and other popular paint company's) paint color of the year! In 2021, we saw interior paint trends that leaned mostly towards earthy tones with a pop of brightness. The predictions for 2022, which are largely influenced by fashion, pop culture, technology, design, and current events, is the opposite with Pantone's color being the pop, followed by very similar earthy (green & brown) selections as in 2021. This shouldn't come as a surprise as our current events, fashion, pop culture, etc...have not changed much from last year. While more employees are back to work at the office, travel is more prevalent, and everyday activities look and feel more like pre Covid, the habits that we adapted to and the way we used or modified our homes in 2021,have become more permanent. While these predictions have research and and studies to back them, they often do not reflect how the majority of people design and live in their homes. Here in Utah, we are still seeing shades of white/ivory and grays, even charcoals.
Now that you are seeing what the paint predictions are for 2022, pay attention to how often you will see some of these colors in fashion, marketing, automobiles, advertising, etc... and if you are brave enough to use Pantone's color in your own home, be sure to post a picture on social media and tag us!

My friends nicknamed me Utah Dave in high school because they said it didn't matter where we went in Utah, I would know how to get there and who we needed to talk to. The name sticks today as UtahDave has formed into a professional real estate network of Neighborhood Experts all across the state. I live in Daybreak with my wife and 4 amazing children. I enjoy dancing (which is how I met my wife Dawn) as well as traveling, coaching, and learning.
