For those who love the outdoors, Daybreak living in winter offers a lot of fun. More than 20 miles of trails, suitable for cross-country skiing, stretch around Oquirrh Lake, and some of the best downhill skiing in the U.S. is within a one-hour drive.

But what about indoor Daybreak living? There are many cultural, artistic and entertainment options in and close to Daybreak to expand your mind, broaden your horizons or just help you escape if winter is not your thing. Daybreak living can exceed your lifestyle objectives, no matter the activities you enjoy.

Adjacent to Daybreak is The District in South Jordan, which has a wealth of shopping for every taste and budget, not to mention a 20-screen megaplex cinema.

Cultural Daybreak living

The Viridian in West Jordan features a library and event center, and it’s only a few minutes from Daybreak. It offers classes and workshops on a wide range of topics to enrich Daybreak living, including rocks and minerals, parenting and dance. On the second Saturday of each month, the Veridian presents local musicians and other performers in its Excellence in the Community Concert Series.

Twelve minutes from the Oquirrh Lake Loop, the Gale Center of History and Culture at 10300 S. Beckstead Lane hosts the ninth annual South Jordan Art Show starting Jan. 14. Featuring painting, photography and 3D art from South Jordan residents, the show awards prizes in child, youth, teen and adult categories. The winners will be announced at an artists' reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 18.

A 15-minute drive from Daybreak can take your family to the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium at 12033 Lone Peak Parkway in Draper. In addition to deep-sea exhibits, fun educational programs and the introduction of new animals on a regular basis, you can feed the sharks every day at 1:30 p.m. until May 31, 2016.

A short drive from home

Half an hour away at 300 South 1400 East (Broadway), the Pioneer Theatre Company has established a reputation for hosting Broadway-caliber productions as well as top-notch regional theater. For instance, "Two Dollar Bill" by T.J. Brady premieres at the Pioneer in January. Check out the theater's calendar to learn more about all of the exciting events coming happening throughout the winter and into spring.

Daybreak living, of course, not only makes you at home in the surrounding neighborhood; it also makes you a part of the vibrant cultural life of Salt Lake City. Choose from a rich array of museums including the Discovery Gateway children’s museum at 444 West 100 South. With 60,000 square feet of space, Discovery Gateway focuses on interactive hands-on fun for kids with classes in singing, dancing and musical instruments. There are also story readings, creative arts and many other activities.

Just a little farther east of Discovery Gateway is the Natural History Museum of Utah, located at 301 Wakara Way in Salt Lake City. With more than 1.5 million different attractions to see, it also offers discovery and education programs for kids and adults.

Curious about what Daybreak might have been like long ago? Come to This Is The Place Heritage Park. The Old Deseret Village preserves and shows how people lived in the mid-1800s in Utah with recreated authentic homes, stores, churches and other buildings. You can watch a blacksmith at work, visit a 19th-century barber shop and enjoy period treats.

And if you don't mind going a little farther on your road trip, a one-hour drive (without traffic) will take you to Park City, Utah, home of Robert Redford’s world-renowned Sundance Film Festival. In 2016, it runs from Jan. 21 to 31.

With all of these choices and many others we haven't even mentioned, Daybreak living offers some of the richest, most varied and exciting opportunities in the U.S. Get started on your own adventure today by visiting our website.
